ARTWORK
Gilding is the process of overlaying an adhesive coated
surface with a tissue thin layer of metal such as gold, silver, copper, or composition gold leaf which is then hand burnished followed by a varnish sealer. Currently I use composition gold and copper leaf. Gilding has been used since ancient times, particularly in the arts of East and South Asia, the Middle East, and during the Renaissance.
On top of the gilded surface I lay down multiple brushstrokes of color and cut through thus revealing the golden layer. This signature technique I have developed makes for a freeform graphic style of dancing, rhythmic marks to flow and catch the golden light.
